An aerial shot of Sedona’s red cliffs. I love this piece because of the striking X marks in the landscape. Or is that a W? The sunlight just bounced off those cliffs something fierce and I tried to capture what I remember from that flight.  It’s not often you get the chance to go up in a prop plane and see things like a bird.

36x48in Acrylic on Wood Panel.

This is the third large size of the Sedona series. I have a couple small studies too.  Number three here is done with a different color palette, one I’ve grown fond.  The underpainting was done in raw sienna, which helped tremendously with the value and the composition.  Bill Ahrendt knows his craft, and I’ve been following his advice ever since I met him.
