Each unique “Windows to the Earth” starts with a center element or object. Be it an ammonite, shell, fossil, crystal or geode, it is the inception of the piece. The opening is made for the element, the design is hand carved into the porcelain, and then put on a slump mold to dry. Once it is fired, oil pigments are hand rubbed into the carved surface. A protective clear coat is put on top. It is then mounted onto a 12″ x 12″ black slate tile with wood back and d-clip for easy hanging.  Shipping and handling $40.

In practicing architecture for 30 years, I have explored the rather complex processes of manipulating form, texture, materials, and color to create emotional response from the people interacting with the space. My artwork is a continuation of that process, while at a more intimate scale, connecting to the viewer remains the ultimate goal. Description

This “Windows to the Earth”  uses brown, blue and green pigments and is  embellished with gemstone beads, copper dagger beads and a beautiful ammonite resting inside a luminous natural shell within the “window” or portal.
